In my first Instructional Systems Development course at UMBC, I was tasked with developing a Design Plan and Lesson Plan for a course. Though hypothetical, I decided to develop a course on Technology and the Flipped Classroom for Anne Arundel County Public Schools. As a teacher at Glen Burnie High School, I began flipping my classroom and discovering different technologies that would aid in doing so along the way.
While the design plan is inclusive, the Facilitator Guide/ Lesson Plan is only for one module in particular – What is the Flipped Classroom, and how do you use it?
This design plan and lesson plan was never intended to actually be put to use, but in the Spring of 2016, I was tasked with, along with a second faculty member, to deliver a brief professional development to department chairs and administration regarding the flipped classroom. I could not utilize the entire lesson plan, but I did use highlights from it, including the suggested video. Overall, it went well and I received positive feedback from faculty members following the professional development.
